Celebrating Hope At Kapeyapaan: IndieCo’s Third Book Signing

Written by: Klaire Dubouzet | 11 months ago

The Indiependent Collective (IndieCo) conducted another book signing event last Saturday, May 6, at Kapeyapaan Cafe Bistro for its newest anthology release, Celebrating Hope After A Storm.

The event got delayed due to technical difficulties, yet despite the rocky start, the book signing was a success with an electric atmosphere as a crowd of avid readers and book enthusiasts gathered at the cafe, lining up to get their books signed by their favorite authors.

IndieCo organized the event as it wanted to give authors and their supporters a chance to meet and greet each other, discuss the backstory behind their essays, and have their books signed.

“It was a great experience po. Sobrang saya kasi dream ko po talaga na may work ako na ma-publish and maranasan makapag-book signing,” Katrina Portillo, one of the authors in attendance, told IndieCo when asked about her book signing experience.

Katrina Portillo is a third-year college student from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, who wrote about her journey on her first major heartbreak and how she found herself in the process of healing from the pain by finding the courage to explore and do the things that make her feel alive.

“Regarding my thoughts about the event, it was a very pleasant experience. It was nice to meet young people with the same passion as I do as well as meet others who are very interested to know about the authors who partake in the books and really get a glimpse of where the stories came from. I hope to be part of these types of events continuously,” Kallixte, another author at the event, said.

Kallixte is a girl with a love for art and music. Her story is about her marriage and showing the world that despite how cruel life is and how painful it can be, a person can always turn those pain and make it their strength.
