“You have to start with at least one small step to even go forward,” Natalie Barbu said during her opening remarks during Indie-Co’s March event, More Than Words: Amplifying the Narrative of Women Leaders. Held via Zoom last March 26, CEO and Co-founder of Rella Natalie Barbu, CEO of Edukasyon.ph Grace David, and tech content creator Athena Abe Atcha joined us to talk about being a woman in the tech industry, how to get started, and the challenges they faced during their journey.

Grace and Athena shared much from their own experiences. The discussion ranged from Atcha’s personal experience with pursuing the tech industry early, to Grace’s transition from the corporate to the tech space. Different as their experiences may be, the two have shared similar learnings and advice for the audience. Get started, believe in yourself, and let your vision lead you through your journey! The discussion is highly inspiring, not only for those who want to get started in the tech industry but also for those who are pursuing their dreams. Their words of wisdom are applicable not only in tech but also in life.

The Indiependent Collective is passionate about inspiring and empowering young people to go after their dreams. More Than Words is truly an embodiment of what Indie-Co stands for: making the youth feel empowered to create change.

The event also featured a special performance from Gigionthebeats – GI/GI, who are up-and-coming artists from Bacolod City. Indie-Co also announced the event’s giveaway winners, who won a box of cookies from Iris Bites and Ivy’s Bakeshop along with a 10% discount coupon code.
